I live on a 50 acre farm with my husband and the youngest of our four children, Hannah. She is 6 years old. Our other children are Lisa,36, Michael,32, and Rebecca,30. We have 7 grandchildren ranging in age from 12 years old down to 22 months. We live a pretty quiet life. We are mostly home bodies. We have one fur baby named Nigel. He is a rescue dog that is a golden retriever mix.We are in the Bee business and my husband and Hannah manage the bees and makes the gardens. I can and dry and freeze. I also do a lot of different crafts with Hannah with rocks, sticks and other things we find in the woods. I am doing my families genealogy, which takes a lot of my time.We have had a menagery of animals over the years. From Brahma Bulls to hedgehogs. We have raised chickens, rabbits, squirrels, sheep, goats, cows, cats, dogs, ducks, turkeys, quail, pheasants, fish,a black snake named Leroy that lived 10 years and 12 feet long, an Australian Shepherd that lived 21 years and herded all living creatues including children., and numerous other furry, scaley slimey creatures I have chosen to block from memory.I guess all in all my life isn't all that quiet after all is it? But it has never been dull. We live in a renovated farmhouse that was built in the 1930's and we are still working on it.I was an Rn for 25 years before I had to retire and go on disability for heart attacks and other medical conditions after the heart attacks. I have been a midwife since I was 12 with my great-grandmother and practicing on my own since I was 17 when I married and moved to NC from GA.That has been a very rewarding and interesting part of my life. Even though I can no longer work as a nurse, I still deliver an occasional baby or two when asked. It is in my soul and blood to catch babies. It is as natural to me as breathing air. I love my grandchildren and love when they are here.It is a wild place. My house is always kidproofed and well lived in. Which in other words a mess. But when the kids come we drag out the toys and the craft stuff and play and make stuff. Forget the dishes for get the cleaning that will always be here when they are grown. Well, I guess that about summs it up. I'm a semi old woman who would rather play and make a mess than clean house. I think that does it.
